About Us

The band was founded for the purpose of fostering and facilitating the musical aspirations of members and thus advance their musical knowledge and ability. The end result is the confidence to play in public; this is achieved by providing musical entertainment in Beverley and the neighbouring area at special events promoted by local organisations.

The band rehearse at the St. John Ambulance hall on the corner of Wlibert / Morton Lane, Beverley on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7.30 to 9.30pm.

The band is noted for playing a wide range of music including modern popular music, arrangements of scores from the shows and film music and not forgetting a wide selection of the more traditional transcripts from well-known orchestral and brass band composers.

We are a non-subscription based non-contesting band and is entirely free to join. Our income to run the band comes from playing at concerts, other events and also playing carols during December.

Members of the band consist of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and ages. We are always happy to welcome new members, whether experienced players or relative beginners provided they have some experience and can read music. All our music is in treble clef with the exception of the Bass Trombone parts which are in bass clef.

If the idea of being involved in a friendly band, where you can relax and enjoy playing a wide variety of music, interests you, whether you live locally or are just passing through please come along to the band room on rehearsal nights where you will be made very welcome. If you do not own your own instrument the band keeps a stock of instruments that can be used by members.

For more details please contact Iain Colquhoun or just pop into one of our rehearsals. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
